Midsummer Herb Bundles

“Midsummer Herb Bundles”.  Here is a fun summer craft to do on or about the Summer Solstice (first day of summer, also referred to as Midsummer).   These bundles (or pouches) can be used for aromatics, meditation or a Midsummer ritual. 

 

What you will need:

Piece of pretty floral fabric

“Midsummer” herbs

Piece of red string or yarn

Paper & red pencil

Scissors

 

Instructions:

1.      Gather your herbs.  This is a great opportunity to go outside, pick fresh herbs and enjoy the sun, which is what summer solstice seeks to honor.   (This is also good incentive to start your own “magical”, culinary or healing herb garden!)  Traditionally, Midsummer herbs include: sage, rosemary, thyme, basil, lavender, St. John’s wort and vervain.  Use any combination pleasing to you for your herb bundle.  Also, gather pretty summer flowers in yellow, red, white, pink or purple, which you may want to include in your bundle or have displayed around you while making the bundle.

 

2.      Cut a circle (or square) from the floral fabric that measures at least 8 inches across.

 

3.      Carefully and thoughtfully place your herbs...
