July 24, 2011

Smart phones, iPads, tablets . . . These latest gadget marvels have changed the way so many of us conduct our daily lives. They have invaded our everyday so completely that there is no where you can go to escape them. Their uses and applications seem endless. So why not invade our most favorite hobbies - Knitting and Crocheting - and our love of all things yarn. Initially, I thought Smartphones and tablets were silly, impractical and unnecessary. Is there ever a “Free Lunch“? There are some decent apps available to feed your yarn lust without costing you a dime. Sure, many free applications for Smartphones and tablets devices are designed to promote products and wares of specific yarn companies and publications. July 17, 2011

It's hard to say I love you. Or that I care. The other day, I had the pleasure to squeeze in a little “knitting time” while waiting to pick up my son from camp at a local community center. Every project is a feast for your eyes! Open your eyes and take time to truly see what you are making.   When choosing a project and yarn, your choice of color can profoundly affect your mood.  Do you need vibrant colors to bring you out of a funk?  Do you need neutrals or pastels to soothe your soul?  Or are solid earth tones needed to put you on solid ground?  Go beyond color and observe your pattern and stitches.  Are they smooth?  Too tight?  Ask yourself: What is the creation of my hands saying...
